Why acrobatics is not handed out just like that

Acrobatics puts a heavy load on many parts of the body, so at IDC it goes together with work on the body rather than apart from it. "When the body compensates in the wrong way, it does harm. When the movement patterns are wrong, what you get is not an improvement but a decline in physical condition," senior instructor Yuniia Furman explains. The areas watched separately are the hip and knee joints.

Hence the main principle: a great exercise can help, and it can do harm if a child is not prepared for it. Which is why difficult elements are never forced: the body has to be ready first.

A trick is drilled outside the dance

Back handsprings, saltos and cartwheels are difficult and potentially dangerous, so tricks are worked on separately, on mats and with an acrobatics coach. An element goes into a routine only once it is already stable.

Not an extra club, but part of the training

For children in competition groups acrobatics is a mandatory component: the acrobatic part of a routine is discussed while the routine is still being staged. But you can come to it on its own as well — as physical development, with no eye on competitions.
